About the Author
Terry Carroll
is Managing Director of Hollins Consulting, where he specialises in strategic consultancy, executive recruitment, counselling and outplacement. In 1998, he qualified as a NPL practitioner. With 16 years financial services experience, up to chief executive and nine years as finance director of major organisations in both the private and public sector, Terry has also acquired experience across the whole general management spectrum, including as MD of a HR, recruitment and outplacement company.
After graduating in business studies from Bradford Management Centre, he followed a career in finance. He has been responsible for strategic planning, information systems, treasury and risk management, human resources, sales and quality. His public sector experience includes three years as director of the largest NHS trust in the UK and several years as chairman or director of Inner City Projects.
As a non-executive director, Terry’s specialist areas are strategy, treasury, risk and corporate governance. He has written many articles and publications and is an experienced conference presenter on these topics, together with finance and personal development. In 1998, he will complete a further book on risk management. He is a Chartered Accountant, Corporate Treasurer, Chartered Banker and former member of the London Stock Exchange.
In his spare time, he plays golf, tennis and bridge, writes poetry and music. He is currently working on an allegorical novel and a cello concerto. Married to Heather Summers, a HR and training consultant, they have two sons and one daughter.
