The 16 Books in this Series are all linked together by a mystery surrounding the Marquis of Sywell who won Steepwood abbey during a card game. He married a girl, young enough to be his granddaughter and out of his class, who has disappeared without a trace.

There are four villages surrounding the Abbey and the books follow the romances of the various inhabitants of the villages, who are all connected in some way with the intrigue.

Each story is self contained but if you want to find out what is going on at the Abbey you will need to read all of the books.

Lord Ravensden's Marriage is the first in this series and follows the story of Beatrice Roade and her sister Olivia who is forced to return from London pursued by her suitor Lord Ravensden.

At first Beatrice hopes that her sister will make up with Harry and renew their engagement but after having nursed him through a life threatening illness she starts to wonder.

Meanwhile strange things are happening at the Abbey and the whole neighbourhood is wondering about the disappearance of The Marchioness of Sywell.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series and reccomend it to those who love mystery and intrigue as well as romance.

Anne Herries' new novel clearly doesn't dissapoint. Anne is a fabulous Regency romance writer whose books are so engrossing that you'll find them hard to put down. Her latest, the first one in the Steepwood series, is a gripping read which shall definetly whet your appetite for the next books. A great read that's romantic and gripping; Herries really is the successor to the grand Georgette Heyer
