Cecily Renato has heard murmurings about a past tragedy which has caused a bitter rift with a neighbouring family. When her step-daughter declares her love for a member of the family, the Duke of Severin returns to put a stop to it! However things don't go according to plan, danger stalks his footsteps. What could the Duke have done all those years ago to drive a mysterious figure to attack him now? Cecily, too, is in danger--especially from her feelings for the darkly alluring Duke...

I really enjoyed the Duke of Severin as he tried to convince Cecily that she belonged with him. Cecily was very hard to convince as she felt that he had not gotten over his first love. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone.
