To sensible Rachel Odell, the sight of Cory, Lord Newlyn rising naked from the Midwinter river is enough to send ripples of shock through her carefully ordered life. Cory has always been her friend and now, suddenly, she's aware of him as a man - an exceedingly handsome man. But he is her complete opposite, and adventure-seeker...and a rogue.

It dawns on Rachel that throughout the summer Cory has been waging a slow, deliberate campaign to seduce her - but why? Is it because Cory has a secret agenda or is it simply that he wants to claim his best friend as his bride..?
