I read some of Lucy Monroe's books before and have been happy with them. This is the reason I purchased this book. No matter how bad the hero's attitude may be, I felt that the author would deal bad situation in best possible way and at the same time in convincing manner. These sorts of story lines normally put me off completely but I give this story 98% approval out of 100%. The heroine has not been a victim, neither a doormat. In these sort of stories you normally have a cold hearted brute as a hero till almost to the end of the story. He kicks out his lover because she allegedly get pregnant by another man. After the baby is born, a DNA proves his paternity. He takes advantage of his privilege background that he blackmails his ex to marry him. Due to her humble background, she is most likely to lose her child that she has no alternative but to comply. Its a relief that this story is nothing like above.

Greek Billionare Dimitri Petronides lived with his model mistress Xandra Fortune for a year in Paris. His grandfather was having a heart problem and he wished to see his grandson marry his Greek betroth, back in Greece. He always knew he would eventually marry another woman and not his mistress. Xandra was naive not to question his committement for her. He ended his relationship with his mistress minutes before having sex for the last time. She pleaded her love for him but he dismissed her, claiming that he does not believe in love. Then Xandra tells of her pregnancy but he refused to accept that his the father. Its quite ironic to doubt this especially when she has been sleeping with him only. He evicts her from his flat for her alleged betrayal. I think that was disgusting and immoral when he was the actual person to let her down. She leaves Paris for America where she is from and dissapears from his life for good. Just before his engagement party was suppose to take place, he cancels it. And to hide the dishonour this cancellation may bring the family, his younger brother marries the girl and she too had pride and dignity to maintain.Dimitri feels bad for his unacceptable behaviour towards Xandra and also realises his love for her. He searched for her and had even hired investigators. Then he located her in America via a business party and is 5 months pregnant. He was surprised to find out that she is not just a glamourous model and her real name is Alexandra Dupree. After that he did not allow her out of his sight. She acted as though she was no longer in love with him and sweetly reminded him at every opportunaty of how he maltreated her. He apologised to her and even went certain length to express this.
Just before the story ends, a reader would know why he initially refused paternity. Still this does not excause the way he acted like a cold hearted swine. I like the heroine by the fact she is a strong character and was glad the way she stood up for herself.
The story also contains other characters whom interacted briefly with the main characters- Alexandra's protective sister & brother-inlaw, old fashioned & disapproving mother, Dimitri's friendly brother & sister-inlaw and kind & funny grandfather.
I would have given 5 stars for this story but settled with 4 stars only as the story dragged on a bit.

Greek billionaire Dimitri agrees to give up his mistress and marry a family friend for the sake of his grandfather who awaits a heart opperation and wants to see the next generation settled. However when he tells his mistress Xandra that their relationship is over and he plans to marry someone else he is horrified to hear that she is pregnant with his child. He does not believe her and evicts her from his apartment.

Xandra heartbroken disappears from his life. Dimitri though turns up on her doorstep 5 months later.
