Once I picked up this book I just could not put it down!! I entered into the life of Amy Bainbridge as if she was myself. I felt all the joy and nervous trepidation of this young lady and so called rake! I felt I could fell all those disapproving eyes on my back whist I danced. The true joy of this book is the colourful description of the actual genre and style of the era, where people were advised to dream within their reaches and the best a lady could hope for was a famly favorable match. Then maybe she may be fortunate to become friends with her husband. This story picks up the numerous and intricate threads of several family' lives, past and present, painful gains and glad loses and unltes them in a equally heart warming and stopping fabric of continuing love and truth finding awareness. It has all the necessary qualities of a "Historical Romance" love, despair,intrigue, heartache and a deep rooted warmth at the end that the world is not so bad, but I would love to be loved like that!
