This was a very quick read but an immensely entertaining one - I could feel Bessie's exuberance fly off the pages. Her start among the pioneers or cinema, including Griffith, Pickford and Barthelmess, is incredibly engaging. She is also unflinching about the difficulties of life as an older actress, traveling for stage performances and small roles in big films. Fascinating lady and someone I would have loved to know.
