With the return of Star Wars, many parents are plunged into the dilemma of owning or not owning a toy weapon. For the parents of most boys, the subject will inevitably arise sooner or later. Every parent makes his/her own decision with the hope that the children will grow out of the need before he decides to become a serial killer. Enter the wacky world of Margaret Mahy and see how she tackles the subject. Mahy has a wild imagination. And yet, after some reflection, her strange situations don't seem so odd because she has a keen understanding of human behaviour. Her characters all ring true.
