5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Encyclopaedic Reference book, 9 Aug 2003
This book is a true reference book on photographic techniques and optics. Goes into great detail on the topics it covers and is a useful guide for an advanced photographer wanting to understand more scientific aspects of the craft.

5.0 out of 5 stars View Camera Technique (7th edition) Focal Press 1999, 16 Oct 2008
This book, though it appears expensive, offers excellent value in terms of its coverage and the depth into which explores all the topics, whilst not straying too deeply into mathematics so as to be intimidating. Where formulae are used they are explained systematically and clearly.

The book is aimed at photographers interested in large format photography (film sizes of 10cm squared, or above) providing a thorough grounding in optical and photographic theory & practice. The book would also benefit those seeking to broaden their knowledge of this area including students at first year undergraduate level. Serious amateurs who wish to learn about topics such as making sense of the charts provided by manufacturers of photographic film, which can be rather intimidating to non-professionals; or the differing image resolution of modern and older (classic) lenses or optics specifically designed (and priced accordingly) for digital sensors; will find this book informative.
