Why you should buy this book.
I'm very gratified that this book has been so well received. Ihave had great comments from radio station production people, music engineers, project studio owners and students. The reason they like the book is that it explains the sometimes mystifying principles of good audio in easy to understand terms. The radio people say the book allows them to talk to their chief engineers and improve the quality of their production. Music engineers already know a lot of the content, but find that the parts on setting up a good monitoring environment and envisioning the signal path through the system is very helpful. Project studio people find it a guidebook to more successful session. Students find it allows them MUCH easier access to the technology. One person commented that, "Like the ADAT, this book helps to democratize audio technology so that everyone can use it." Finally, the last chapter's interview with noted producer/engineers Nelson Funk of Rodel in Washington DC and Louis Mills of Flite Three in Baltimore give invaluable insight into the production process. This candid chapter alone is worth the price.
