Book Description
The autobiography of a Manchester United hero whose finest hour came in the tremendous treble winning season of 1998-99. But not just his life playing for the Reds and seeking glory in an England shirt, this is the story of a man who's playing career started at a young age at Lilleshall, who played for Bristol City and Arsenal before becoming a prolific striker at St James' Park, and who fought against prejudice and racism to get where he is today.

On the evening of 27 May 1999 a bus travelled through Manchester at snail's pace. It went from the Trafford area of the city right to its heart. Hundreds of thousands of people lined the streets; the whole city came to a stand still; the rest of the nation watched on TV. Andrew Cole, a miner's son from Nottingham was on that bus, celebrating the greatest season of his footballing life.

Andy Cole - The Autobiography is the story of one of the greatest talents the country has ever produced. At the age of 14, Andy was selected to attend the National School of Excellence at Lilleshall, and after two years, he began his footballing career at Arsenal before moving to Bristol City. On the back of Cole scoring 20 goals in 41 games, Kevin Keegan made Andy Cole Newcastle United's then record signing when Cole moved north for #1.75 million in March 1993.

It was at Newcastle United that Andy Cole became a goalscoring legend and by the end of 1993-94 season, he had become a record breaker. He was the first Newcastle player to score over 40 goals in a season, and became the country's Golden Boot Winner scoring 41 goals. Then Alex Ferguson made Andy a British Record signing, in his move to Manchester United for #7 million in January 1995. Andy repaid that investment by helping united to 3 Premier League Titles, 2 Premier League Runners Up places, 2 FA Cups and a European Champions Cup victory.

This is a full account of Andy Cole's rise to football stardom. In his autobiography, he gives a full and frank account of his training at Lilleshall and his early years at Arsenal and Bristol City, as well as talking about the great names with whom he has worked - Alex Ferguson, Kevin Keegan and, before his resignation, Glenn Hoddle. Andy Cole was trained by the nation at Lilleshall and has played at every level for his country. His professional career began in 1990 and has spanned a decade of incredible change. Andy Cole - An Autobiography is not just a revealing account of an incredible career, it is also a fascinating examination of what it is to be a footballer in the 1990s. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.
