5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, easy-to-follow recipes from the Emmerdale cast, 12 Nov 1999
By A Customer
If you're not a brilliant cook but enjoy food and entertaining then The New Emmerdale Cookbook is an excellent source of imaginative recipes which aren't complicated to prepare. It mixes traditional Yorkshire favourites - like rabbit pie - with more exotic fare, such as Pasticciata con Arrosto di Manzo al Marlon (yes, really! - it's a kind of lasagne with roast beef and beer ...!) What makes this cookbook brilliant is that it has contributions from the Emmerdale cast plus lots of tips to ensure that whatever you cook has a chance of turning out as it's meant to. If you fancy having a go at Eric Pollard's wild mushroom risotto then take his advice and don't wash the rice before you cook it - that's vital to get the consistency right. My favourite recipe in the book is Tex-Mex Meatballs with Creamy Tomato Dip because it's so simple to make - the recipe breaks down into four easy steps - and it tastes fantastic. With corn chips and gaucamole on the side this is an ideal dish for informal entertaining. And there's even a hot tip from Marlon - if you can't find taco salsa in the shops then make your own by cunningly mixing tomato ketchup with fromage frais. What a cheat! Brilliant book, specially if you're a fan of the soap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Fun Food, 19 Nov 1999
Cooking is meant to be fun - and with this book it certainly is - packed full of easy to make, delicious to eat recipes I can heartily recommend this cookbook. The instructions are clear, the steps are easy to follow and the end result delicious! The tips from the cast are surprisingly good. A bonus if you like the soap but not a prerequisite for enjoying the book.
