There have been attempts to produce guides to circuits before -- I remember at least one atlas of motor racing circuits in the mid-80s, and Tony Sakkis' "Guide to Motor Racing Circuits of the World" is an excellent pocketbook, but this really does try to show as much detail as possible on the current F1, CART, BTCC circuits, many of the IRL and NASCAR tracks, and various other international circuits all over the world. 70-odd current circuits are illustrated, along with a few historic ones, complete with information on typical lap times, relief maps, action photographs, aerial photography and so on. A very useful resource and a nicely-presented book -- the very clean layout does mean there's rather a lot of whitespace that a fact geek like myself could think of other uses for, but as a combination coffee-table book and working reference to circuits it is unique and valuable.

Far too many mistakes in this book.
Most obvious examples are: pictures printed reversed left-to-right, which is confusing when comparing with the maps; some of the gradient diagrams are at best dubious, at worst wholly wrong.
How can we trust the rest of the data here?
An attractive, physically well-produced book. Enjoyable to browse through, but generally containing too many slip-ups to be regarded as a serious reference work.
