5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book, 21 Sep 2000
A wonderful book of short stories looking at the relationship between man and the natural world. The Machine Stops is a stark warning against too much reliance on technology, relevant now even more than when it was written, with the increase of computers in the home and the internet.

5.0 out of 5 stars A tremendous science fiction story (Machine Stops), 7 Nov 1999
By A Customer
A brilliant science fiction story written at a time whn few stories like that were written. It is about an underground city where suddenly the machinery preserving life begins to break down. Beautifully written.
