Great book for a great series!, 8 Nov 2003
I am a massive fan of the two Geordies and I relly loved their series, shown earlier this year (2003). The series was so good it recently won the boys an NTA (National Televison Award-voted for entirely by the viewers) So now it's time for the tie-in book. Would it live upto the series? Firstly, lets clear something up. I don't know why the book is on here as "Christmas Takeaway" because it has nothing remotely christmassy about it. But still, can't be helped! Infact, the timing of this book release is perfect, not so soon after the series finished that everything is over-played, not too long so that it's all forgotton about, and just a week or two after the NTAs. Very clever people up at the book place they are! Reading through the book, it brought back all the favourite memories from the series, including the infamous 'Gorilla' What's next, the equally infamous 'Simon Cowell' undercover, but it also went through other fine moments of the show in detail such as "Bill and Ben the geordie flowerpot men" and the scary scary "Circus of Horrors". It also includes all of the "win the ads" questions, so if you were yelling at the screen that the contestant was about to give a wrong answer, you can go back and re-assure yourself that you were infact right yourself. It really brought back just the happy vibe that the show had about it. The writing style is easy to follow, humourous and it never takes itself too seriously (just like the two stars of the show themselves!) The book contains many lovely stills from the show and new pics that haven't been seen before, it also includes quotes from the boys themselves, and also adds 'backstage' pictures and information (did you notice 'Ant's' lip fall off when they were singing on This Morning? no! neither did I!)There are even a few pages dedicated to the 'little people' that were a running theme to the show. Little Ant and Dec go through all the other little stars, like little simon cowell and little darius, and re-introduce us to Little Little Ant and Dec (oh, just how cute are they!!) Overall, it is a very entertaining and enjoyable read. Buy it! If you loved the series, you'll love this book :)
