TLS

'It has suspense, treachery and bone-crunching action...'

Product Description

Greece is a country in turmoil, divided by feuding kingdoms desiring wealth, power and revenge.

When Eperitus, a young exiled soldier, comes to the aid of a group of warriors in battle, little does he know that it will be the start of an incredible adventure. For he is about to join the charismatic Odysseus, Prince of Ithaca, on a vital quest to save his homeland.

Odysseus travels to Sparta to join the most famous heroes of the time in paying suit to the sensuous Helen. Armed with nothing but his wits and intelligence, he must enter a treacherous world of warfare and politics to compete for the greatest prize in Greece. But few care for the problems of an impoverished prince when war with Troy is beckoning . . .

An epic saga set in one of the most dramatic periods of history, King of Ithaca is a voyage of discovery of one man’s journey to become a King – and a legend.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very exciting read, 3 Jul 2008
By Rich Ayres (Leicester, England) - See all my reviews
I've read the book and thought it was absolutely fantastic - I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the characters, the storyline and the historical detail. It's a bit bloody in places, but they were violent times and I thought the battle scenes were compelling and well done. Although I'm not a "classicist" like the previous reviewer, I love the Greek myths and thought the book did an excellent job of bringing them to life. It's a brilliantly told story and I would recommend it to anybody!

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent read, 18 Jun 2008

I really enjoyed King of Ithaca. The novel tells Odysseus' story of saving his homeland through the eyes of Eperitus and has a good combination of real life and mythology. The characters come to life and draw you into the world of Ancient Greece. I know very little about Ancient Greece, but feel I have gained some insight from reading this - an added bonus! Overall, an excellent read with a sequel to look forward to.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fresh perspective, 24 Jun 2009

Enjoyed David Gemmel's Trojan Series?

Then this is a book for you.

The adventure follows Odysseus and his band as they travel from Ithaca to Sparta in pursuit of the infamous `Helen'. Oracles, battles, monsters, Gods and much more saturates the story as you travel with the band.

A highly recommended book if the legends and myths of ancient Greece fascinate you.

Short, simple and thoroughly engrossing - it's an ideal light read.
