About the Author

Martine Oborne was originally a financial director but now writes for both children and adults and owns two gift shops for children. Her bestselling picture book, ONE GORGEOUS BABY (978 0 3339 6038 7), is also published by Macmillan.



Axel Scheffler is a star illustrator within the children's book world, and has created many prize-winning and bestselling books for Macmillan. He has enjoyed particular success in his collaborations with Julia Donaldson. Their books include THE GRUFFALO (978 0 3337 1093 7), THE GRUFFALO'S CHILD (978 1 4050 2046 6) and CHARLIE COOK'S FAVOURITE BOOK (978 1 4050 3469 2).

I have found this book to be a little disappointing compared to some others. The illustrations are as good as ever but the story seems to be a little too list like and not as interesting as it could have been. I think it could have been a little bit more humorous. I would recommend other Scheffler illustrated books like "Charlie Cook" and of course "The Gruffalo" over this one.

This is the first book of Axel Sceffler's that I ever bought for my kids. We have it under it's original title of "Juice the Pig" (Can't see why they changed it). What a fab, fab book. We have all been addicted to his delightful and absorbing illustrations ever since. The story here is wonderfully entertaining and humerous with a marvellous message in it and perfectly illustrated with his gloriously detailed pictures. Truely a gem. Over the years we have all enjoyed this book again and again and again and again..need I say more!
