Product Description

Product Description

After their thrilling exploits in Matthew Reilly’s bestseller Seven Ancient Wonders, super-soldier Jack West and his loyal team of adventurers are back, and now they face an all-but impossible challenge. For a mysterious ceremony in an unknown location has triggered a catastrophic countdown that will climax in the destruction of all life on Earth.

But there is one last hope. If Jack’s team can find and rebuild a legendary ancient device known only as the “Machine”, they might be able to ward off this coming Armageddon. The only clues to its location, however, are held within the fabled Six Sacred Stones, long lost in the fog of history.

And so the hunt begins . . . From Stonehenge in England, to the deserts of Egypt, to the spectacular Three Gorges region of China, The Six Sacred Stones will take you on a non-stop rollercoaster ride through ancient history, modern military hardware, and some of the fastest and most mind-blowing action you will ever read.

About the Author

Matthew Reilly, born and still resident in Sydney, studied law before turning his pen to fiction. His novels, Contest, Ice Station , Temple, Area 7 and Scarecrow have been massive bestsellers in every continent.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty expensive for a third of a book!, 26 Mar 2008

I've, enjoyed this one for the most part.

As others have said the events are so implausible they are laughable but still fun. Like when you were a kid playing cops and robbers; you got shot but didn't die because you had your fingers crossed which activated a forcefield around you that reflected the bullets back of course.

My main gripe is that it's barely half a book! Yes, its 500 pages but I'd guess another two books of that length will be required to complete the story.

It really should be advertised at The Six Sacred Stones: Part One

1.0 out of 5 stars Utter Dross which probably took less time to write than it does to read!, 6 Oct 2008
By Mr. N. J. Grundy "NickG" (Gurgaon, India) - See all my reviews

This review is from: The Six Sacred Stones (Paperback)
I am not usually inclined to write reviews for books but this one left me seething so I felt obliged!

Firstly, as mentioned in other reviews here this is only half a story so prepare to feel cheated when you get to the end. On the positive side of course once you know this you won't make the mistake of buying the second/third book!

Secondly, the plot and hard to know where to begin really. The whole thing is complete nonsense - I know it is fiction and fantasy on the author's part but it just goes to far. The whole book seems to consist of putting unlikely characters in impossible situations then inventing machines or tools which "magically" appear at the 11th hour just in time to save them from their impending doom. The kind of thing you come across through out is "Steve looked helplessly as the 500 special forces troops headed towards him weapons drawn. Then he remembered his prototype soliders-be-gone spray. Three squirts later and he was safe again standing on top of a pile of corpses".

Really - this is literature at its worst. Don't waste your money.

1.0 out of 5 stars six sacred stones, 1 Dec 2008
By L. smith "book addict" (bristol england) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Six Sacred Stones (Paperback)
I am an avid reader of all books and have read 2 of this author's previous books and although implausible I have enjoyed them. This book the Six Sacred Stones,is one of the worst book I have read, and I was very disappointed. The writing style is poor and written like a school essay, with occasional excitement spoilt by poor style and content. It could have been written in 100 pages. I certainly will not be reading any sequel.
