As the title suggests, this is a collection of short stories (and a few poems, too), involving animals and the supernatural.
The creatures featured include puppies, cats and bears - all familiar to most children either from their own experience or from other children's fiction.
The tales range from the lightly humorous to the sadly moving, but none are without great charm.
This is, not to beat about the bush, an absolutely lovely book.
It is beautifully produced, with delightful illustrations, and I can well imagine any child lucky enough to be given a copy would keep it for many years as a well-loved treasure.
Perfect as a Christmas gift - or at any other time of year!
