Product Description

Kathy Reichs, author of Deadly Decisions and Death du Jour
"Stylish. Sleek. Scary. Hollowpoint captures you on the first page and just hangs on--and in the end it transforms into something deeper than you imagined."

Alan Furst, author of Kingdom of Shadows and Red Gold
"Rob Reuland's Hollowpoint is hard-edged, cold, and real, very real. The writing is sharp and funny, and the story comes from the alley behind the precinct house, so what you get here is the best street novel in years."

4.0 out of 5 stars Hollowpoint, by Rob Reuland - Tough, gritty, haunting., 23 Nov 2003
By D. Norman "chippermoon@aol.com" (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Hollowpoint (Hardcover)
A tough, gritty and haunting story.

To have to live with the knowledge that, by your own carelessness, you have indirectly caused the death of your daughter.

This continues to plague every waking hour of Assistant D.A. Giobberti.

Assistant D.A. Gibberti, handles the case involving a young girl, shot dead.

Throughout the book, the underlying feelings of guilt, and extreme loss caused by his own carlessness, when his daughter was killed in a road accident, encroach upon the story and the reader. It stays with us on every page. Even the lines of gritty (often amusing) dialouge, the sense of Gio's guilt, and bereavment are evident. It underpins the story, and his desperate attempts to be able to come to terms with what he has done. To be able to remember his daughter knowing that it is only in memory he is going to be able to gain any consolation at all. And it is this, which enables him to reach out and to create his own resolution.

The way he does this, and succeeds, to gain some redemption for himself, provided for me, an uplifting ending, to what I considered to be a clever, (different) and enjoyable read.
