5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book for RMI Users, 14 Jul 2001

I started learning RMI with this book, and its an in depth coverage of this important topic! It does not bore you with silly toy examples, but it goes also straigth to the point! Thanx for this great book! Keep your way of explaining in future editions!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money, 9 Oct 2001

Most people learn RMI the hard way, via the JDK documentation and FAQ's. This book is an excellent guide to the subject and a worthwhile purchase for anyone involved in RMI or EJB development.

Huge effort has obviously been spent on making the text as clear and readible as possible. My only criticism is that I would have liked more in-depth discussion of how implementations actually work.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book !, 20 Jul 2001
This is the only book on RMI that I have come across that describes the topic in depth as opposed to just providing a set of APIs. It is very complete, readable and understandable. And it also covers issues such as code mobility across different remote hosts, implementation across firewalls and exception handling.

I would suggest this is a book for designers, technical architects or those planning to implement RMI Services in systems and who need to know about the issues involved and the implications for overall design.

It is also a good read for programmers prior to writing a single line of code.

It is well written, well organised and follows a logical progression building up understanding as the reader progresses. I really do recommend this book.
