For twelve years BMUG, the largest and most influential Macintosh users group in the world, has published its famous "Newsletter" twice a year. The Newsletter is now a large format 500-page book containing over 100 articles including software and hardware reviews, "how-to" guides, commentaries on the computer industry, a 20-page Glossary, and Choice Products - BMUG's respected product recommendations. The BMUG Newsletter contains no advertising, and is written and edited by BMUG members and volunteers, many of them leading experts and critics in the industry.
The BMUG Fall 1996 Bundle now offered by Peachpit also comes with The BMUG Internet Collection CD-ROM. This 660-mg CD-ROM is packed with a selection of the latest and greatest Shareware and Freeware, including games, graphics programs, educational programs, and utilities, as well as software to access Planet BMUG, BMUG's electronic bulletin board, plus software that every Internet user needs to have (such as Anarchie, Eudora, MacTCP, MacWais, and more). In addition, a complete copy of the Newsletter in Acrobat format is included on the CD-ROM.
Finally, the Bundle includes a six-month BMUG membership, which includes access to Planet BMUG. All of the software and instructions to access the bulletin board are in the Newsletter and on the CD-ROM. Anyone with a modem or Internet access can easily get on Planet BMUG, where users can visit conference areas, read up-to-the-minute computer news and opinions, download from BMUG's extensive Shareware library, and discuss community issues, politics, and movies. In addition, users can exchange e-mail over the Internet and read Macintosh-related Newsgroups.
