5.0 out of 5 stars Essential for Postscript level 2, 6 April 2000
By A Customer
I got this book years ago when I needed to do some tricky postscript reports: this book definately saved the day, I don't think I would have achieved the required result just working from the examples I could find around about.

If you still need to write to Level 2 (maybe to support older printers) then this is the definative reference book: all commands are covered in detail and is very clear.

2.0 out of 5 stars You need more than this if you are beginning PostScript, 23 Jul 2003
Although it does cover concepts more than some manuals, which are basically dictionaries, the brevity in some cases lets it down.
Writing procedures is covered in 2 tiny examples though the serious programmer will want to use them constantly. There are only 1 line definitions of stack operators which are commonly employed. For instance,in what context would you want to exchange the 2 top elements of a stack with "Exch"? We arent told.
This book might be useful for an advanced Postscript graphics user but for the beginner it doesn't really cut it.
