5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough, concise and detailed., 29 Jul 2001
By A Customer
I found this book by Dietel to be the best form of reference in my university operating systems course. It contained more detail on most topics, and in my opinion is a much better book than the commonly recommended Applied OS Concepts by Silberschatz. Although very detailed, very easy to read, which is a real bonus when trying to absorb the complex information.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too theoretical. Doesn't try to map theory to practice., 22 April 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Operating Systems (Hardcover)
Not bad but tends to be a little too theoretical. I prefer books which illustrate a concept with examples from real life. Would prefer Tanenbaum.
