4.0 out of 5 stars Oxford Revision guide; Advanced Philosophy and Ethics, 18 Jan 2003
I have recently discovered this book and as a result I have used it with my AS students, sitting their exams in January.
The book gives a clear synopsis of each topic, that not only allows the main points to be outlined but also enables students to recognise key questions .
The text is very clear and is also organised in a structured manner.
For example under Fletchers situation ethics, we look first at the history, then the meaning of love with a relevant interpetation and finally the criticisms.
All of my students have felt that this book has given them the bets chance possible to succeed.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent revision and extra reading throughout the course, 7 April 2003
I'd visited a school website written by the same author, and so dicided to buy the fully detailed revision guide. It is very clear and well structured, as well as easy to follow. I recommend this guide to AS and A-level students as a revision guide for the exams or as support reading material throught the course (for example, it includes some extra details and scholars that earn extra marks in essays). All round great guide.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what it says on the tin., 29 Nov 2003
By A Customer
Whilst this may be a useful and usable set of notes in an area where revision guides are sparse, and whilst this series has produced some excellent and well organised materials (see for example the Sociology book in the series), the biggest problem here is that this book is NOT diagrammatic. Good revision guides which can organise complex ideas visually are really helpful. However, this book considers "Through Diagrams" to consist of putting a square border around dense blocks of text and, occasionally, adding a charicature of the head of an author. You are left with a set of revision notes just like all the others.
It is nice to see something affordable linked to Religious Studies, but it would be of very limited use to anyone revising for AS/A Philosophy, so please do not be misled by the title on that front either.
