5.0 out of 5 stars Best Physics book for GCSE, 5 Oct 2008
By A. J. HAWKEN "Tony Hawken" (London - UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have a number of Physics books by Stephen Pople - all of them good. This is one of his newest books, and probably the best. It certainly has more material in it and is currently used by schools to teach GCSE Physics.

Like his other books, the material is clearly explained and is well illustrated. In this book there are 13 chapters, and these are split up into two-page spreads that cover a single topic. Each of these topics could easily be covered within an hour. There are a small number of questions for each topic. Then at the end of each chapter there are many exam-type questions with answers at the back of the book.

This book could be used to compensate for a poor teacher, as everything is so well explained and so can be used to teach yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars this book is brilliant, 8 Sep 2001
By A Customer
This book actually explains physics. For instance, within the sections on electricity it doesn't just given you the equations for V = IR etc, it explains them as well. When explaining that 2 10 ohm resistors in parallel have less resistance than a single 10 ohm resistor in series, he gives the perfect analogy of a thicker wire. I'm not doing justice to this book in a short note like this - but take it from me that it's brilliant.
