I first got this book because some course work of mine required me to look at biographies. This book did the job a treat. With the exception of one or two people, none of the biographies are of any great length (generally 2 pages max), thus being factual enough to glean a bit about the individual and short enough to want to make you read even more. The variety of people written about also makes this an ideal book for info-maniacs and quizaholics.
