this new publication builds on the former edition of looking at screening provided for children, known as Child Health Surveillance a programme of routine health checks and monitoring in the first five years of life. This 4th edition looks at widening this age range, and recognises the need to update the relationship between parent, child and health professional to one working in partnership and where parents are empowered to care for their own health and make use of professional services as they are needed. the book sets out recommendations and it is up to professionals to look at how these can be implemented into practice.
