This Student's Book immediately impressed me with its open, full-colour professional layout and variety in style.
Ideal for students desiring to increase their vocabulary and competence in language structures and skills required in the business environment - very suitable for second-language adult students at intermediate level.
Each chapter develops a specific relevant topic related to general business, including aspects such as:
describing products, services and facilites, giving directions and reports,
handling an interview and writing a C.V.,
making arrangements,
dealing with problems
and handling interviews and meetings.

Each chapter explains,develops and reinforces aspects of language that are naturally used within the framework of the particular topic concerned and consequently has an unforced, comfortable flow.

The material provides diverse language activities (speaking, listening, reading, vocabulary, pronounciation, writing and fun interaction with fellow students).
Each section includes well explained language notes to clarify the particular aspect of grammar developed in that chapter. Although the language skills in each chapter build on the work covered in the previous chapters, it is possible to use portions independently.

Particularly good features include:
clear objectives and overview
multi-national content and approach
helpful appendices
easy-to-relate to dialogues
clear, easy-to-understand diagrams

'young/modern' image photographs
interesting factual reading material
self-check material

I received positive feedback from students who found that the material helped to build their confidence in handling real-life situations, as well as improving their competence in basic business language skills. However I found it necessary to use some supplementary exercises to consolidate the specific aspects of grammar covered.
This book will certainly be the backbone of study material with my second language students, who are young adults hoping to enter the work market in English-speaking countries.
