Product Description

Book Description

A gripping new novel from best-selling author Tim Bowler

Product Description

It starts with the phone call, late at night. The mysterious boy says he is dying. Dusty doesn't want to get involved - but the boy seems to have a link to the one person who's most important to her. Soon she has been drawn in - and now she has to deal with the other people who are looking for the boy - the violent man and his two sons, and the police too . . . Yet throughout all this, Dusty senses the presence of a boy who is not dying, a strange elusive boy who can show her what happened to her missing brother and solve the greatest mystery of her life. Where he is, who he is, why he wants to die, she cannot say. Only one thing is certain. Finding him will be dangerous.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another thought provoking read., 18 Jul 2007
By Suencfc "Suencfc" (Suffolk, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Frozen Fire (Paperback)
I'm not quite sure how Bowler does it, but yet again he has exercised his deep and fertile imagination to produce a work of intriguing brilliance. To classify him as a children's author is to do him a disservice as I know a lot of adults who admire his works and read him avidly. I, too, am not surprised that this book has won awards. They are thoroughly well deserved. At a recent book event in a local school, the first chapter of this book was read aloud to the pupils and you could have heard a pin drop. The book sold out almost instantly. Anything that grips people this tightly and encourages them into reading deserves awards and accolades. The book has a sophisticated mix of tension and themes and it will not appeal to those who are not prepared to give it thought. Nor will it appeal to younger readers who perhaps lack experience and the perception to appreciate it fully. Others, grip your seats!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure brilliance!, 20 Jul 2007
This review is from: Frozen Fire (Paperback)
I am a huge Tim Bowler fan, and yet every time I read his latest novel I am amazed by the rich and poetic imagination his novels display. No two are ever the same. Every character in this unusual and intriguing read, has been carefully crafted by a master. This book is beautiful and lyrical, but at the same time will scare the pants off you! It is a rare thing - a novel which treats its readers with intelligence and allows them to exercise their own imaginations whilst they wonder at his! Younger readers, or those with dull imaginations may not get it. I did and i loved it! Tim never shys away from the difficult stuff and yet he has never once offended. How does he keep doing this?! Pure brilliance!

5.0 out of 5 stars Frozen Fire is an experience, not just a good read.
I'm always wary when the book jacket says a story grips from the opening line, but in this case it was absolutely true. Tim Bowler has written an amazing and original story. Read more
