Chapter headings such as 'Animal bites; rabies; venomous bites and stings' may not be reassuring (and just wait until you've read the contents) but expert advice on the risks, how to avoid them and what to do if you didn't by a host of experts is undeniably useful, as are appendices with titles including 'Can I drink the water?'
