There are four cases in this audiobook pack, each on a separate disc, very competently read by Douglas Wilmer (narrating as Doctor Watson) and each taking about 40 to 45 minutes. They are:"A Scandal in Bohemia" The king of Bohemia is soon to be married. He needs a clever detective, a soul of discretion, to retrieve some incriminating evidence of his caddish, youthful adventures. Holmes agrees to rescue the royal reputation. "A Case of Identity" A distressed young lady who appears to have been jilted, consults Holmes. Her fiancé seems to have anticipated his own mysterious disappearance, so it's not a complete surprise when he vanishes on his way to the wedding. It doesn't take Holmes long to get to the bottom of the matter - but his poor client will find his solution to this case unbelievable. "The Red-Headed League" An organisation apparently run by and for the benefit of red-headed folk, suddenly and without warning, closes its London office, leaving a surprised and unhappy employee without a job or wage. Holmes finds the case funny, fishy and fascinating - he just can't resist it. "The Boscombe Valley Mystery" When a young man is charged with murdering his own father, a young lady who holds him in high regard summons the great detective to prove her friend's innocence. To any ordinary observer, all the evidence seems to point to the son's guilt - but ordinary observers cannot see with the penetrating eye of Sherlock Holmes. Anyone who enjoys the stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle will enjoy these four tales. Recommended.
