Charlie and Lola, first seen in I Will Not Ever NEVER Eat a Tomato, are now stars of the screen and page. First aired on prime time children’s BBC in October 2005 and now available on DVD, Charlie and Lola are enjoying superstardom! Charlie has built a fabulous prize-winning rocket and has forbidden Lola to touch it. But when Lola finds herself with nothing to do, the temptation is just too great and she goes to get the rocket ... but knocks it on the floor, destroying it. When Charlie finds out he is distraught and wants to know who is to blame. Lola vehemently denies it until she realises the only way to win back Charlie's trust and respect is to own up, apologise and really mean it.


About the Author

Lauren Child is the multi-talented prize-winning creator of the characters Charlie and Lola and Clarice Bean. She has won the Smarties Gold Award, Smarties Bronze Award, Kate Greenaway Medal and been shortlisted for the Children’s Book of the Year at the British Book Awards. Lauren lives in London.

My granddaughters in Australia are keen fans of the Charlie and Lola books. In their case life imitates art since they have a big brother who's just as nurturing as Charlie is!

In fact I first heard this book read to the girls by their teen-aged brother, and the experience brought a smile to my face.

Lola's impulse control is not great, and in WHOOPS! BUT IT WASN'T ME she again tries Charlie's patience -- this time by breaking his handmade, prize-winning rocket. But the details of the story aren't so important as the gentle example for little ones. Kids see that Lola is loved no matter how outrageous she is, and Charlie models patience, negotiation and resourcefulness. Nice lessons slipped in with a fun story.

Lauren Child's sweet stories and delightful illustrations charm children and adults alike. This is my favorite (so far) of the Charlie and Lola books.

Charlie tells Lola on no account must she go near his prized rocket. The trouble is, Charlie goes out and Lola is on her own, and bored. She decides to play with Soren Lorenson and some toy animals - an elephant and a pair of hyenas. When the 'nasty' hyenas make Ellie unhappy, Lola and Soren Lorenson need to sort it out fast - and with Soren Lorenson's influence that rocket doesn't stay on the shelf.......and they are off to Elephant land. Lola always gets into trouble when Soren Lorenson is around.Soren Lorenson makes Charlie and Lola's books even better.

Great book, my 4 year old loves Charlie and Lola and this is a fantastic night time read. As with all the Charlie and Lola books.
