5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!, 7 Feb 2008
Loved this book!

Francesca is an Australian teenager of Italian descent living in Sydney. The book is about her exploits when she moves to a school which was previously an all boys school. Meanwhile, she is trying to deal with her Mum, who is like her best friend, having a mental break down, and the fact that the boy she is in love with keeps kissing her even though he has a girlfriend!!!

Amazing read, makes you want to laugh out loud! The main character is very similar to the main character in the author's other book, Looking For Alibrandi, but I have a feeling it's just the author writing about her self really!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reminisce about high school years..., 8 Jan 2007
By K. Worsdell "Enthusiastic reader" (Melbourne, Australia) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a terrific book and although its written in very simple, accessible language, its themes are complex and have depth.
I could relate to Francesca's experience on many levels and found myself in tears on several occasions whilst I read this book. I have since loaned my copy on to about 4 friends who all adored it. It really made me look back fondly on my high school years and remember how I viewed the world and relationships with friends and the opposite sex as a young adult. It's a book that had me thinking about the choices I made in my teenage years and how they have impacted on my life.
I teach primary school and whilst the book is too mature for ten year olds, its a great text for those 14 years and up and is thoroughly enjoyable for adults as well. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love Francesca!, 17 Jul 2007
By Liz (SA!) - See all my reviews
This book was lovely. I read it straight through, only stopping to eat dinner and going to bed much later than I should have. But it was worth it.
I think every teenage girl should read it. Melina Marchetta knows how a girl like Francesca would think.
Also the characters are quite complex so it's great! Will is one heck of a guy.

Just get on with it and READ THE BOOK!
In my opinion it should have more than just five stars.
