Fans of Martina Cole will love this impressive offering from a potential King of Crime (Heat )

Harrowing, chilling...with passages of heartbreaking frankness. By the end, your heart is overwhelmed (Daily Telegraph )

Product Description

DI Stacey Collins has seen the darker side of humanity all too often. A single mum and former child from the grim Blenheim estate, she knows only too well what terrors the world can hold. But even her jaded eyes have never witnessed a crime of such unspeakable horror. A body, broken and lifeless, is found in the gloom of a London church. Kidnapped and horrifically murdered, young Daniel Wright never knew his tormentor. And it is only the beginning. Soon Collins finds herself both haunted by the demons of her past and battling in the name of innocence itself. Some angels never find their path to heaven . . .

4.0 out of 5 stars different to his other books but still a good read, 12 Aug 2008
Been a fan of Kevin Lewis and having enjoyed his other books kaitlyn and frankie - this book was a bit of a contrast! This book is about a serial killer who likes to kill little boys - but the story isnt told from his point of view it is told from the police and detective side of things. When I realised this I was a bit wary as I do enjoy books written from the victim/serial killer angle - however I was pleasantly surprised by this book! It was a gripping read and I read it in a matter of hours. There is a big twist in the book as well which you wouldnt guess, and the book shows us how the police come to realise these things and it is an interesting read. If I had to compare to another book it would probably be the know and the ladykiller by martina cole as they are mainly based around the police side of things. I have given this book 4 stars as I feel it could have had more in about the killer and the victims and what they go through etc but still a good read and definitely recommended, again especially if you like martina cole

4.0 out of 5 stars As good as Martina Cole!!!, 13 Aug 2008
By Kat Everett "Mrs E" (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
I was waiting for this book by Kevin Lewis because I thoroughly enjoyed his previous two books and wanted to see whether this one was as good. I am an avid Martina Cole fan but have found lately some of her books a bit too "samey". This was a refreshing change and he writes as good as (if not better) than Martina Cole. This is the first in what looks like an ongoing series of "D.I Stacey Collins" books. It tells the story of Stacey, a DI on the police force, who is called in to help with finding the murderer of a young boy. However when a second little boy goes missing and a ransom is demanded it is treated as a kidnapping meaning her having to work with coppers she just doesn't get along with. The story is incredibly fast paced and we see the appearance of Jack Stanley a criminal who has ties to Stacey. Highly recommended for Martina Cole and Manadsue Heller fans.

3.0 out of 5 stars Average read!, 28 Oct 2008
This is the first book I have read by Kevin Lewis and having read the reviews, this book sounded great and I couldn't wait to read it - it sounded just the type of book I like.

Well, sorry to say I was disappointed - I didn't find the plot particularly interesting, it really didn't hold my attention and I wouldn't call this book a page turner. I struggled with it at times - it just wasn't exciting enough for me. There are much better books out there than this one, not sure if will read anything more by Kevin Lewis.
