Product Description

Product Description

Panther poo means scary poo to shrews. If they smell scary panther poo, they have to run like mad because panthers love to snack on shrews. Unfortunately, Tiny Shrew can't smell anything much - he can't even tell the difference between a butterfly and poo. Naturally his mother is worried about his chances of survival in the deep, dark jungle and Tiny Shrew becomes too ashamed - and scared - to venture out of his burrow. But when his brother is in mortal danger from an almost silent creeping panther, Tiny Shrew thinks nothing of dashing outside to scare away the panther. How did he know it was there? His super sharp hearing detected it and more than makes up for his lack of olfactory sense!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kid's instant favourite, 24 Aug 2006

It sounds crass but it's true to say that kids are fascinated by any book that can unashamedly mention "poo" in the title.

A fun story about finding your gifts and being different, can provoke some great class and bedtime discussions. Well told, funny and absolutely sumptous illustrations.

5.0 out of 5 stars poohtastic, 22 Aug 2008

We just borrowed this book from the library and my children were so delighted with it we have now ordered our own copy as I feel it will get a lot of use.

It tells the story of a baby shrew, whose father and mother are trying to teach it the ways of the jungle. They teach it to recognise scary smells with its sensitive shrew nose, and to run away from panther pooh, because panther pooh is scary. The problem is that baby shrew has no sense of smell and is scared of everything.

It is a very funny book with fantastic illustrations which add to the rich humour. There is a great twist and a really nice moral which isn't too laboured and doesn't flounder alongside the humour. We loved it.

All my godchildren LOVE this book. From the age of two upwards, they appear to be fascinated by poo and this is fun to read to them - endlessly.
