5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, 18 Mar 2002
By A Customer
This book was really, good. The family, plus a vistor are staying at the hotel for Christmas and are trapped in by snow. The story is told from the perspective of every one staying at the hotel, showing how each character is feeling. There is also a sort of love triangle.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very different Christmas., 2 April 2007
A family gathered for Christmas - each with a secret. The mix of characters, each with his/her tensions makes for a compelling read. The setting is magical and the manner in which Geras presents her story is delighful and so original. This is almost a novella, yet provides the reader with so much: location, atmosphere, a cast of characters who present everyday problems in a climate enhanced by a range of emotions which have the potential to overwhelm each of them as they seek to protect each other until the festivities of Christmas day are over. Delicious vegetarian menus are set out for each day to further tantalise the palette. As good as Geras's other novels. She's excellent.
