3.0 out of 5 stars Buddy's book review, 25 Nov 2002
Nigel Hintons "Buddy" is the first installment in a remarkable trilogy following the journey of Buddy Clark an ordinary schoolboy. Things start to turn haywire when his mum decides her future lays outside the boundaries of her home. Terry (Buddy's dad)is always busy with his new suspicioous job. Buddy soon finds himself involved with the mysterious happenings of 56 Croxley street and nothing seems to go accoding to plan. Buddy's life is on the down side at the moment and he has no-where or no-one to turn to can his friends Julius and Charmain help him through this difficult time? Can they teach him to understand that he is not alone.

Hinton lets you escape from the real world only to find that you are as much involed with Buddy's. He helps you to understand the characters feelings and the pressure they are under. Naturally sending a shiver down your spine at every tense moment.

Buddy's Blues and Buddy's Song follow the superb Buddy story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classical best by Nigel Hinton, 28 May 2002
By A Customer
Young Buddy lives at home with his parents until his mum and dad go their own ways.Buddy's father has been involved in crime before and Buddy is scared that his family will fall apart once again. After Buddy's mother leaves, him and his dad seem to be coping O.K but Buddy grows suspicious when his father comes home one night bleeding dreadfully.Buddy's father is involved in crime and Buddy intends to get him out of it.It is a worrying time for Buddy and he ends up hiding out in Croxley Street with his father's friend...'The Beast'.He is a strange character but Buddy takes pity on him being alone, and keeps him company.
Buddy's father is a bit of a selfish man but he looks after Buddy when he needs to most.A great book by Nigel Hinton and one that i would definately recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buddy, 18 Feb 2003
From reading Buddy I have seen that his life is a mess but it still amazes me that Nigel Hinton can make such a abnormal situation become so normal and be able to touch you as you read it. All the pane and sadness that Buddy and his family go through seems to relate to me in a wierd sort of way. Nigel Hinton makes characters come alive. I have never been bullied myself, but I am feeling every moment of hurtfullness that Buddy is going through. This book is simply the best I have read!
Well done Nigel Hinton!
