5.0 out of 5 stars Really Sad but Brilliant - The Best Book I Have Ever Read !!, 28 Oct 2002
By A Customer
I could not put this book down. It was a brilliant story line. May did not fit in and when Tam suddenly found himself in the past he didn't either. Tam and May made friends, but there was something different about May. Tam found out from the kind hearted Mr.Nutter May had spent the first 4 years of her life locked inside(you will understand when you read the book) and had been in a bombing when he took her in. May loved life at the farm though and had never been so happy with Mr. Nutter. Tam had a great few days at Thowt it farm with May and her dog Winnie during world war two, except for a few run ins with some locals. But he found out something bad when he got home, to do with an old beggar woman he had seen around named Rosey. But there was something seriuosly wrong with this beggar women, she was in a terrible state, she always had a sad, lonely look in her eyes, wandered the streets, had obviously never been looked after and was deformed. Tam would find out the truth of what had happened at Thowt it farm. This is a book everyone must read. It is so sad and after reading this I cried all day.The line 'I got lost, Tam, I got lost for so long...' is the saddest part of the book and is the part which made me cry. She really had been lost all her life. Please read this book I promise you, you will not regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favourite book - An Angel for May, 27 Oct 2002
When I first read this book it took me less than 2 days which is very unusual for me. This is because once I had started reading this book I couldn't stop, I needed to know what happened next. This is a touching story and helps you to look at your life in perspective. It is a sad story but the ending is hopeful. It shows how problems used to be treated in war time, if a child was different people shoved the child in a home. This book shows how life could be and nearly was better for May when she had love instead of 'proffesional care.' This story shows how the sad life of May turned out and showed Tam to look at things in a totally new perspective.
