4.0 out of 5 stars Simple, intelligent and engrossing, 23 Nov 2002
A good book, well written with believable characters. The war metaphors and passages from the narrators fave WW1 book are well executed as is the whole "trouble with teenagers" theme. Some parts made me laugh out loud and others were very moving. Some of the references to drinking and unprotected sex might make this more for the secondary school age group- but I doubt many teenagers it relates to will want to read it. For adults it's a light, entertaining read- I enjoyed it emensley and I'm 21!

This humourous book about the Flower family and the troubles Estelle causes is one for everyone to read. Even though I read it at school I stil became engrossed. Definitely one I would recomend to all from ages 9-12. Big Thumbs Up !
