5.0 out of 5 stars 20 Years ago this book enchanted me, 23 Feb 2003
By Adam Edwards (Bristol. UK) - See all my reviews
As an eight year old boy I was fortunate enought to participate in a classroom reading of this book. It has taken me just over 20 years to track it down again. It affected me on many deep levels at that time as both my grandparents were of a similar age to the children in the story during the second world war. It made me understand just what they had been through and made me love them all the more because of it.
Thank You Mr Serraillier.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Silver Sword- My Book Review!, 30 April 2003
i thot this book was very touching and once you started reading you couldnt put it down. it was wonderfully written for its time and it gave you a real sense of how war can affect even the youngest, most innocent children in such an extreme way. I would recommend this book to any1 who finds it easy to identify with characters in a story as this is an amzing story with the strongest of characters and they are an inspiration to every1. 5 star!

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book for all ages, 16 Oct 2001
By A Customer
I think this book is a very good way of helping children to understand the ways of war. When I read the book I could hardly put it down because it was so exciting and sometimes sad but it made me think about what I take for granted and what some people had to go through so that we could have what we have got today.
