Product Description
Synopsis
If any city in the world can be called 'unique' it is Berlin. The Wall may have come down more than a decade ago, but the capital of re-united Germany remains one of the most fascinating and rapidly changing urban areas in Europe. With the help of local journalists, writers and experts, the Time Out Berlin Guide takes you beneath the skin of the city.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not up to par, 14 Mar 2004
As a dedicated reader of Timeout Guides the Berlin guide sadly disappoints. Berlin has much, much more to offer (as I found out on a recent trip) than what is in this book. The grouping of cafes, and bars leaves the book impossible to navigate especially when looking for a good place to have a coffee on a Tuesday afternoon. There is also no mention of the various "squatter bars", which are difficult to find for your average tourist but should be included in a guide which prides itself on staying on top of the "hip" and "underground" spots in the city. The restaurant section is just not big enough, or varied, often with only one restaurant per type of food per area. On the contrary the sightseeing guide was adequate for a few days of wandering but would leave you short if you planned to stay longer. You better hit the streets again guys and live up to your reputation.
