5.0 out of 5 stars One of the finest detective writers, 24 Jul 2007

Satyajit Ray is a superb detective writer. Some may not be familiar with the writer but he certainly joined the ranks of other great detective writers alongside Agatha Christie and Arthur Doyle.

The Royal Bengal Mystery: And Other Feluda Stories is a superb collection of short stories following private dectective Feluda and his narrative assistant Topshe. The novel travels to various regions of India for solving certain mysteries, which include locations ranging from caves, jungles to tombs. It is not all seriousness and gloom. There is a bit of shuttle humour to provide amusement to the reader.

The novel is ideally suited for bedtime reading or holidays. The stories featured in the novel maintained a high degree of interest as you would want to know what happens. The beauty of a fine piece of detective novel is to keep the reader in suspense, which this novel achieves with flying colours.

If you are interested in detective novels, read The Royal Bengal Mystery: And Other Feluda Stories by Satyajit Ray.
