5.0 out of 5 stars The most interesting medical book I have read in ten years, 10 Feb 2000
By A Customer
The author is a psychotherapist who has been converted to the benefits of prozac and its related drugs. The book is particularly interesting in its chapters on how brain chemistry effects self esteem. As a practising GP I have found this to be one of the most important and interesting text books I have read for several years; and I often reccomend it to both doctors in training and to patients.

5.0 out of 5 stars Understand yourself, personality, and the modern world!, 2 Feb 2000
By A Customer
This is one of the most important non-fiction books ever! It's not just a guide into the world of prozac: it's a concise history of psychiatry since the 50's; a study of a good deal of human lives that has been changed by the wonderdrug that prozac is (I am currently being treated with another new antidepressant: Zoloft); and, perhabs most importantly, a great philosophical treatice on the structure of personality and the moral consequences prozac has confronted us with. Kramer is a fantastic writer and teacher; never once whilst reading this book was I bored. This is essential if you want to understand yourself and the world in which you are living.
