Having seen Hattie perform various comedy routines over the last few years, I had to buy her book when it came out. It wasn't quite what I expected.

As well as being dangerously funny, Hattie's book is also a very well written description of growing up in London during the 60s & 70s. Her sharp observation and love for her family comes across very strongly at times, and the way she writes about the tragedies that everyone at some point experiences in their life is very well done and does on occasion bring a tear to the eye. Highly recommended.

Having seen the author on television and performing at the Edinburgh Festival, I found this to be one of the funniest books I have ever read. She really does have a way with words and you can see why she has become such an inernational Stand-up comedy star. If there had ever been a Mrs Tony Hancock - it could have been Hattie's mother!
