4.0 out of 5 stars Another charming and feisty lead character,, 27 Sep 2000
By A Customer
And a quirky touch of otherworld. Not quite as good as the excellent Vision of Light and the sequel, In Pursuit of the Green Lion, but not far off! A good, warming read, written with humour, compassion, and clarity. this is the kind of book I like to own and re-read when I am too tired to absorb new plots.

4.0 out of 5 stars A thought or two, 7 Jul 1999
By A Customer
As i am only a 14 yr old i guess my opinion might not be as important but i must say i thoroghly enjoyed the book. i read this book before the oracle glass and do agree that the genivieve characteris better but i feel that the complex story of susannahs and the way it is written is wonderful. the story of the brise to be is not pleasant but throgh the aspects of susannah and her painting troubles along with the deamon and angel it becomes a delight ful tale and thoroghly ilarious. i would recommend it to any one how loves to paint or to any one who is just feeling a little lost. i am a great fan of Miss Riley's writtings and am planning to read her midevil books as soon as i prie them away from my mother.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming story!, 29 April 1998
By A Customer
JMR has written a charming, humorous novel of courtly intrigue and occult mischief set amid King Henry 8th's Tudor England. The fiesty heroinne, Susanna, is a delightful creation realistically portrayed: though restrained by the social conventions of Tudor England, by wit and talent (and a little divine inspiration) she rises above difficult circumstances. If you liked JMR's "In Pursuit of the Green Lion," you're really going to love this one! Terrific fun!

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD BUT NOT HER BEST
After the Oracle Glass, I was somewhat disappointed. The character Susannah Dalton lacks the spark that Genieve of the Oracle Glass had; in truth Susannah seemed silly, a bit... Read more
