Body-mind development explained., 23 Jun 2004
By A Customer
So much information is contained in this compact volume. Written in the 1970s it outlines the authors system of Bioenergetics. Although it contains few practical techniques and is mostly theory (based on many case-studies of his work with people), it is a brilliant introduction to how body-based systems of therapy and self-development work. I myself practice Qi Gong, which in many ways is much more practical to use. But it achieves the same ends: reducing and eliminating unconscious emotional conflicts and fears, which are stored in the body as muscular and organ tension, and can potentially cause many emotional and physical problems. When these tension are eliminated, the personality feels more integrated and connected, life becomes more pleasurable and flowing. A helpful antidote for those who have not been helped by more verbal or language based therapies and need to get 'out of their head' and 'into their body' more.

The bridge between mind and body., 17 Nov 2007
A most extraordinary book that for me bridged the gap or pulled together the more esoteric manifestations of dis-ease, basic psychology and the physical body.
Personally it helped me to see the connections between my mind and my muscles, in particular the hidden (from my conscious awareness) tensions therein. It gave me insight into the modern dis-ease of TAT (tired all the time) and the manifestations of ME and Fibromyalgia, for example.
It's not an in depth book but it gives you enough information to open up your mind to new possibilities and techniques, then it is down to you how far you wish to study this fascinating subject.
