5.0 out of 5 stars Blood is thicker than....everything!!, 12 Dec 2000
Harry may be dead but the Necroscope lives on. His son Nathan has come through the Hell-lands Gate and is now in the hands of Turkur Tzonov, the evil head of Russia's E-Branch. It's up to Ben Trask and co to rescue the heir to Harry's enormous powers - for the sake and safety of two worlds. Meanwhile, back on Sunside/Starside Harry's other son is making himself at home in the last aerie of the Wamphyri, a place where power, politics and blood rule. But Nestor has a dark secret he must hide from the other occupants of this "house of horrors", for even vampires have their fears and Nestor posesses the one thing that can strike terror into the heart of a Lord of the Wamphyri. Brian Lumley's second volume in the "Blood Brothers" trilogy is absolutely awesome - probably one of the best in the entire Necroscope series. The characters introduced in the first book are "fleshed out" and are allowed to grow in our affections - even the vampires (or perhaps especially the vampires!)We also see the return of our old favourites at E-Branch whilst the introduction of Tzonov as the head of the Russian espers provides Ben Trask with a truly worthy opponent. Once you start reading you won't be able to put this book down until you have finished it AND bought the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding ,Lumley has surpassed himself, 22 Nov 2001
By MR G J MCCALLUM (Plymouth, Devon United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
With the first five necroscope novels, all excellent works in themselves you believe that there was something, however small missing. Finally in this trilogy you see Lumley's talent realise its full potential. You see his vampire myth fully expounded in all its goriest detail, while still keeping the reader captivated with the teeming dead. The only slight on Lumley or either his publisher is that he is still viewed as a cult writer, and not afforded the same coverage as Herbert/King/Straub.For pure horror and chills this far surpasses the flowery Anne Rice and substandard Laymon.
