About the Author
Aaron T. Beck is widely seen as the father of cognitive therapy. Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, he is the founder of the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research. He lives in Philadelphia.

This is a persuasive and well-written case for the efficacy of cognitive therapy. At times it seems pedantic in its spelling out of endless examples, but at least this has the advantage that Beck never takes our understanding of his points for granted, and is suggestive that his conclusions are thoroughly thought out. The section on techniques of cognitive therapy is particularly telling and he ends with a useful comparison of cognitive and other types of therapy.

Good book each person who borrowed it from the university library has ended up buying it. That shows what a useful resource it is.
