This was the first Elmore Leonard novel I read, several years ago, and it persuaded me to go out and buy every EL novel I could find. I have fifteen or twenty of them now. He writes crime novels with a deftness of technique which lifts him above comparisons with most 'popular' authors. He is the most readable, most literary, most addictive crime writer I've come across.

...on form, as usual, though 'glitz' is a wee bit longer than most of his books and i thought the story suffered slightly because of it - perhaps not quite as tight as usual. atlantic city and the casino business brought to life beautifully.
